Dear God, World, Universe, Energy - whatever is out there...
I want to create and live off of my creations. I want to create by myself. I want to create with other people. I want to write, sing, make movies (documentaries for now). I want to help others get published and get published myself. I want to take photographs and sell them. I want Justin and I to take photographs together and travel the world. I want to make videos with Val! and have a following of people that are genuinely interested. I want us to be able to sustain a nice living off of these projects. I want to create, love and be happy - and I want the same for my loved ones and all those that want this for themselves, too.
I want life to be "how it should be." A community of good people, good friends, creating, enjoying, being out there in the world and really living and experiencing it all.
Thanks for the thunderstorm the other night. That was a great birthday present. And thanks in advance, for the future.
Love,
Ness

That's a nice letter. Now let's cross out fingers. ;)
I want to travel, create, REALLY create - I want peace, I want as much time as possible with loved ones and family, as much time as possible moving, doing, nurturing, making something. Building something. What if we had the things we've always really wanted - books published, videos watched, movies being made, poetry out there, songs - performances - happiness and adventure and life and love. I want to dig my way back into the world. I want to get into the fleshy, meaty, sweet and juicy part of life.
A job app. I sent to be a travel host back in August '06:
Dear HR person:)
I am certain that I would be perfect for your travel show. As you can see from my resume, I am an experienced filmmaker/editor, so knowing what makes something entertaining [not to mention actually broadcast-quality] is what I do! Beyond that, I am fun, amusing, witty, and always looking for the most interesting things to do and see in every place I go. I love culture, wine, food, and traveling in all it's quirky glory.
As for a brief bio:
I just turned 26 on July 23rd and am a native [and therefore proud] Texan, born and bred. I love poetry and have been writing [actually decent] poetry since I was in elementary school. Along with my twin sister, I have organized and produced club nights, art shows, fashion shows, concerts and beauty contests. I love taking on side projects, having a need to keep busy and be active, even if it means taking up hobbies which to me seem sort of random, like kayaking and studying Czech. I graduated college with a 4.0, have written articles on everything from Xenotransplantation to The Causes of Suicide, and have traveled enough in Europe to know I must return. I love Italian wine, French bread, and Swiss Chocolate.
Word, sounds good. I'll help how I can.
I'm not sure if any one has "life as it should be". We are privileged in the U.S. to have relative affluency, food & shelter, clean water, transportation, a somewhat adequate health care system. We can say what we want without fear of imprisonment or personal violence.
I'm not saying that everyone shouldn't have their dreams and goals to strive for. It's just that we are all recipients of many blessings that we might not be aware of. We are so much better off than many people in the world.
Despite the struggles we all have with earning a living, finding fulfilling relationships, and maintaining good health, most of our glasses are still half-full.
@Justin - crossing fingers is a small part of it. I think drive, persistence, and a positive attitude will be more important.
@Val! - that's the spirit! I love your comment. Thank you! You're right when you point out that there is so much we've done - and most of it we did very well. There is still so much out there for us to do! :)
@alex - thanks!!! That's awesome of you
@liz - thanks for your 2 cents. I agree that, as Americans, we definitely have it better than many other people. Believe me, that weighs a lot on my conscience when I am unhappy at times in my day to day life/career. However, I can't help but want to follow my passion, wherever it takes me (usually it's toward writing). I also think the Europeans have it better than we do with the length of their vacations and reduced work hours!
I thought that letter was quite beautiful. Must've been good to get it off your chest.
The thunderstorm the other night was pretty awesome. I was afraid of it at first because of what my mom told when I was younger. 'Watch out, if you're a bad kid, you'll get hit by lightning'. Thanks for traumatizing me mom! Still love you nonetheless. Still cool to see the lightning show. I prayed to get home safely and made it home dry, yay.
